P. S. Burton
Early Morning Escape

The reason for my disobedience is something
True, something very real. I took the car last
Night, and even if I feel guilty tonight for not getting
Caught. It was by far the most amazing
Thing I have ever done. And it should be written not
Only in my heart, but in the hearts of every lover around
The world, because behind every personal story is
Universal truth.

The morning dew had already fallen on the cracked
Cement of the ground outside of my house. The
Parents were asleep and I was on my way. In no time,
I was at my lover’s house waiting in the dark. Calling
Calling till he called back after several moments of time.
He was with me, we were together. We rode around the
Block of the small sub, till we got to a DEAD END.

I Parked and went to the back of the car. He followed.
We talked to break the ice between us. Still in shock that
I was even there, my nervousness could be seen by
The sweat dripping off my nose. Our eyes met through the
Darkness of the early morning and we kissed. Kissed and
Cuddled. And my lover told me, in truth and pure honesty,
That the only reasons he did those things was to make me jealous.
And it worked. We kissed and cuddled and bit into each others
Necks with such passion that the scars reddened in the glare of the full
Moon up above us, our only light. We talked and Drew hearts in the fog-filled
Windows with our initials inside. Then we stared at each other again.

We kissed and cuddled. I posted myself up on the side of the seat.
My lover laid between my legs. We kissed and cuddled. He took
My right arm across his neck to hold onto his left shoulder. He took
My left arm and put it on his right side to hold on to, I was his seat belt.
He looked at me, and whispered in my ear that he “loved me”
I replied the same back. And he told me something else “No, I love you.
I love every part of you. You protected me when no one else would.
You were there when I fucked up; and you weren’t mad. I love you.”
I stared at him and I felt something in me that words could never explain;
The moons light cased a halo around his sweet Head and we
Kissed and cuddled until the morning came and I had to
Drop him off and go home.
